Helping the founders realize their dream of the first interactive museum celebrating American writers required significant coordination between the exhibit design consultant and the architect. We mitigated the challenges of fulfilling their vision within their set budget by finding value opportunities to meet both goals.

American Writers Museum
The American Writers Museum is the first and only museum of its kind in the United States. Located in an 11,000 sf space at 180 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, the museum is dedicated to past and present American authors, poets, and playwrights. The museum features interactive technology, themed galleries with permanent and rotating exhibitions, educational programs, and special events to tell the story of America’s literary lineage.
Cotter provided project management services for the iconic project. The Cotter team managed design, procurement, demolition, and construction of existing space and coordinated construction with the exhibition design teams.
