The CTA Blue Line track renewal project will rehabilitate 18,600 feet of track along the CTA’s Blue Line between the Grand and O’Hare stations. The project will upgrade tracks, stations (including a number of historical stations), signals, traction power, and water and drainage issues in the subway portions of the line. Existing running rail will be protected and reinstalled along the line and new contact rail will be installed at the Damen reverse curves. The track renewal project began in March 2014 and is expected to be completed in 2018. Heavy work will be scheduled during slow hours in order to allow the CTA to provide regular service during peak hours.
