Cotter Consulting's team of LEED AP's works with Owners and architects on buildings of all types to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification according to the guidelines set by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). We provide LEED Consultation and LEED Facilitation services for New Construction (NC), Commercial Interiors (CI), Existing Buildings (EB) and LEED for Schools (SCH).

  • First house of worship in the World to achieve LEED Platinum Certification
  • Water efficient features and drought-resistant landscaping were designed to significantly reduce water consumption over the life of the building 
  • Designed by Ross Barney Architects, awards include: AIA Frank Lloyd Wright Award Citation of Merit; 2009 AIA COTE Top Ten Green Project; Chicago Building Congress 2009 Merit Award Winner; World Architecture Festival 2009 Highly Commended World Building of the Year

  • All projects will achieve LEED Silver Certification or better
  • Unique sustainable features include green and reflective roofs, microturbine generators with waste heat recovery systems, geothermal heat exchange systems, water reuse systems, permeable and heat island effect reduction pavement
  • Thorough communication and collaboration are required to effectively manage multiple stakeholders, numerous regulatory approvals and complex site logistics

SERVICES: Owner’s representative for the complex renovation of the former 1905 Sears Power Plant into a charter school and community center

  • The plant's unique and historical features were incorporated into the design and are being used for educational purposes
  • Sustainable features include a geo-thermal heating/cooling system, solar panels and natural light usage; pursuing LEED Gold Certification

SERVICES: Project management and commissioning for construction of a new facility and parking lot to accommodate City of Chicago staff

  • Sustainable features include solar panels and wind turbines used to produce power to the building
  • Project site was a vacant Brownfield property owned by the City of Chicago; a remediation plan was approved and carried out as part of the project
