Aviation: O'Hare Modernization Program Quality Assurance Materials Testing

O'Hare Modernization Program Quality Assurance Materials Testing

Chicago, Illinois

Over the past three years, contractors working on the O'Hare Modernization Project (OMP) have moved 7 million cubic yards of dirt, installed 29,000 linear feet of storm sewers and 57,000 linear feet of duck banks. To ensure such a massive effort proceeds effieciently, the City of Chicago's Department of Aviation (DOA) called on Cotter Consulting, Inc. to provide Quality Assurance Materials Testing (QAMT).

Working with seven quality assurance technicians, Cotter's team monitors the contractor's quality control program, testing concrete, asphalt, compaction, fireproofing, welding, roofing, reinforcing bars, underdrains and gradations. Cotter is involved in a broad range of projects, assuring that runways are graded properly, checking vaults and duct banks, ensuring paving and electrical are installed correctly, and sites are properly prepared.
