Cotter's team of LEED AP's works with Owners and architects on buildings of all types to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification according to the guidelines set by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). We provide LEED Consultation and LEED Facilitation services for New Construction (NC), Commercial Interiors (CI), Existing Buildings (EB) and LEED for Schools. Past projects have included the first LEED Platinum building in the Midwest and the world's first LEED Platinum house of worship.

Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation Synagogue

The Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation (JRC) designed an advanced new home for worship, religious instruction and gatherings. Cotter Consulting, Inc. was hired to provide project management and LEED Commissioning services for the three-story, 30,000 square foot project, performing design reviews, value engineering and preliminary scheduling.

Project and construction management services for the renovation of a 27,000 square foot, two-story building into office and light industrial space as part of the City's "Brownfields to Brightfields" initiative. The Center was the first project in the Midwest to seek and be awarded LEED Platinum certification.

Program management team providing services to design and construct 65 buildings including new elementary schools, fire stations, police stations, libraries, field houses, campus parks and other facilities throughout Chicago. In support of the City's initiative to "go green" all of these projects will achieve LEED Silver certification or better. Cotter is responsible for management and oversight of the LEED certification process.

Charles H. Shaw Technology and Learning Center and Henry Ford Academy: Power House High

Owner's representative services for the renovation of the powerhouse on the original Sears Headquarters campus into a charter school for the Henry Ford Learning Institute. When complete, the project will earn LEED Gold certification. As part of a larger redevelopment program, many of the plant's unique features are being recycled for educational purposes The renovation has incorporated several sustainable features including a geo-thermal heating/cooling system, solar panels and natural light. Winner of the Driehaus Award for "Project of the Year".

McCormick Place West Expansion

Chicago, Illinois

Joint Venture partner of Mc4West, LLC, the design-build team responsible for adding 500,000 square feet of exhibition space and 200,000 square feet of meeting space to the Convention Center. The multi-phase project was completed ahead of schedule and the facility was awarded LEED certification for its environmentally sensitive design.

Chicago, Illinois

Project management services for 73,000 square foot digital research library on the University's Lake Shore Campus. The building achieved LEED Silver certification and is the University's first LEED building on campus. Three stories of glass curtainwall preserve the view of Lake Michigan from the building's shoreline location. The west facade of the building is a double curtainwall system, allowing the interstitial space to ventilate the building. Chicago Building Congress Merit Award winner for New Construction.

Owner's representative services, provided oversight during design and construction phases for the new 35,000 square foot program and administrative headquarters. The project's focus was on a universal and "green" design and achieved LEED Gold certification. The project was awarded the Driehaus Award for Chicago Neighborhood Development.

LEED commissioning and project management services for 4,700 square feet of new office and garage space. The project is currently set to achieve LEED Gold Certification thanks to its unique sustainable features to be unveiled upon project completion.

Brighton Park Elementary School

Commissioning services for the $25 million new elementary school responsible for the education and personal development of approximately 900 pre-K through 8th Grade students. Brighton Park Elementary is setting an environmentally conscious example for its students with a goal of LEED Silver for Schools rating on their new school which will include a 25% green roof.

Project management and LEED commissioning services for renovation work of a six-story, 600,000 square foot warehouse The project will house several city departments and is pursuing LEED for Commercial Interiors (CI) certification.
