Cotter Consulting's Buildings division provides services for new construction and renovation projects to public, non-profit and private clients in numerous industries. As an extension of the Owner's staff, Cotter Consulting provides services in phases from pre-construction to closeout.

  • Helmut Jahn design consisting of a glass/steel dome structure at ground floor with grand reading room and library preservation department offices
  • High efficiency, controlled environment with capacity to house over 3.5 million materials and provide space for collection growth through 2029
  • The largest underground Automated Storage Retrieval System (ASRS) for a library in the United States

SERVICES: Project management services for the renovation of 14-story, multi-use center on the University’s Lake Shore Campus

PROJECT COST: $60+ million
SIGNIFICANT FEATURES:

  • 1929 art-deco National Historic Landmark building
  • Constructed in eight phases to enable continued use by the University during construction
  • Includes the construction of a new café, green roof and modern thrust stage, renovations into multi-media classrooms, offices, galleries and event space, and expansions of existing theatres to include scenery, costume production, and storage areas
